Quality and Control
At Christian Salvesen, our processes are designed to be effective, to provide traceability of the progress of the activities we undertake, and to be transparent. Effective controls ensure that our customers goods are maintained in a good condition right through to delivery, and that the right goods are delivered at the right time.

Quality assured: ISO9001:2000
Christian Salvesen has held ISO9001 for its Transport Operations since 1991. The latest version of ISO9001, in addition to documenting our processes and regularly reviewing them, challenges us to improve them.

Our certification to ISO9001 demonstrates our committment to quality, our attention to operational detail and our 'right first time' philosophy.

We view quality as a process of continual improvement and seek to raise standards, participating in joint initiatives with many of our customers.

Driving quality with Ford
In 1997 we became the first 3rd party contractor in Europe to be awarded the Ford Q1 (QS 9000) award for quality and excellence at our Ford warehouse operation at Alverca in Portugal. Since then, we've also won certification for our Coventry warehouse in the United Kingdom.

HACCP
Where relevant, all of our temperature controlled sites comply with the requirements of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and also the Meat Licensing Regulations.

Environmental: ISO14001:2004
Christian Salvesen takes its "duty of care" to minimise the impacts we make on the environment very seriously. In the UK this is evidenced by our Company Environment Policy and by our registration to ISO14001:2004. We aim:

  • to minimise or prevent environmental pollution
  • to use resources efficiently
  • to ensure spillages of chemicals and other environmental incidents are dealt with correctly
  • to recycle as much waste as practicable

ISO14001 requires that registered sites:

  • conduct reviews of operations to establish their effect on the environment
  • develop a Site Environmental Policy
  • set objectives and targets to improve environemental performance
