Helping the UK import fresh food

Christian Salvesen works closely with British Airways and its partners to offer customers a complete import service for perishable air cargo at Heathrow to make things even easier for our customers.

Perishables include a wide range of soft fruit, vegetables and flowers. All items require inspection for condition on arrival and many items require pre-retail services which might include labelling or re-boxing.

We act as a full import agent - gaining clearance for goods and handling duty payments. We have developed a Customs Simplified Freight Procedure (CSFP) for food importers which provides quick clearance, before storing products in a chilled food handling warehouse to keep them at the right temperature before they are transported to regional distribution and packing centres.

We also facilitate a Border Inspection Post Operation and Transport service for products of animal origin in accordance with The Products of Animal Origin (Import and Export) Regulations of 1996.
