Delivery by day, or night

Ever wondered how garages manage to obtain their spare parts within 24 hours?

Ford, Vauxhaul, Jaguar, Land Rover, Saab and Volvo dealers are all supplied with their parts by Christian Salvesen vehicles driving through the night.....

The huge variety of parts that potentially may be required to fix a car is too large for any garage to hold in stock. So garages hold the most commonly used parts and order the remainder from a national warehouse.

The warehouse receives orders throughout the day and starts to despatch orders in roll cages during the evening in trunk vehicles. These go to Christian Salvesen's network of cross-dock facilities where the roll cages are taken out, sorted and sent out on delivery vehicles that may deliver parts to up to twenty dealerships between the hours of 2:00am and 10:00am, with the vast majority being delivered before 8:00am.

Delivery either in roll cages or specially designed containers through the night to secured premises is a solution that many other areas of commerce are starting to look at. The benefits are significant:

  • Greater reliability - no delays due to conjestion
  • Rapid service - Ordered products are available for the start of the next working day
  • Reduced costs - Smaller quantities are required to be kept on site, freeing up capital.
